Wednesday Season 2 Expands with Star-Studded Cast and Darker Storyline

A Triumphant Return to Nevermore

Jenna Ortega leads Wednesday Season 2 as both star and producer, returning alongside cast members Emma Myers, Joy Sunday, Mostafa, Farmer, Victor Dorobantu (Thing), and Hunter Doohan (Tyler Galpin). The core Addams family members, including Catherine Zeta-Jones (Morticia), Luis Guzmán (Gomez), and Isaac Ordonez (Pugsley), have expanded roles this season.

New Faces at Nevermore

The series has attracted major star power with Steve Buscemi joining as Principal Barry Dort and Christopher Lloyd, famous for his role as Uncle Fester in the 1991 ‘Addams Family’ movie, coming aboard as the longest-serving professor at Nevermore Academy. In an exciting development, Lady Gaga is set to appear in Part 2 as Rosaline Rotwood, described as ‘a legendary Nevermore teacher who crosses paths with Wednesday’.

A Darker Journey Ahead

‘This season, Wednesday’s journey is darker and more complex as she navigates family, friends, new mysteries, and old adversaries, propelling her headlong into another year at Nevermore,’ according to co-showrunners and executive producers Alfred Gough and Miles Millar. The creators have noted that they’re working with ‘a bigger scope’ this time, having gained confidence from the show’s success. This has allowed them to be more daring with storylines and character arcs, with their creative ‘toy box’ getting bigger.

Release Strategy and Production

The new season will be released in two parts, with Part 1 arriving on Wednesday, August 6, and Part 2 following on Wednesday, September 3. Each part will consist of four episodes, totaling eight episodes for the season. This two-part release follows Netflix’s recent model for its most popular shows. The series has moved its filming location from Romania to Ireland, and comes after an impressive first season that ranked as Netflix’s most popular English-language series, garnering 252 million views and spending 20 weeks in the streamer’s global Top 10.
