A New Chapter in Reality TV History

The Amazing Race Australia returns for its ninth season overall and third celebrity edition, featuring thirteen teams of two with pre-existing relationships. Hosted by Beau Ryan, the teams are competing for a grand prize of A$100,000 for their chosen charity.

Historic Route and Groundbreaking Destinations

This season’s adventure spans one continent and five countries across fifteen legs. The journey begins in Pokhara and takes contestants through Nepal, Uzbekistan, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, and Indonesia. Notably, this season marks a historic milestone as the first time any version of The Amazing Race has filmed in Uzbekistan, with filming taking place in Samarkand and Tersak.

Star-Studded Cast

The impressive lineup includes a four-time Olympian, a pro parkour athlete, comedians, social media stars, reality legends, sporting superstars, and a former MasterChef Australia judge.

Notable teams include:

– Four-time Olympian and triple Olympic gold medallist Bronte Campbell (OAM) with her fiancé Benfield Lainchbury, a musician. Campbell, fresh from winning gold in the women’s 4x100m freestyle relay at the Paris Olympics, brings competitive focus while Lainchbury adds a calm temperament. They’re racing for Carers Australia.

– Melissa Leong, TV presenter, food writer, podcast host, cookbook editor, radio broadcaster, and former MasterChef Australia judge, teams up with her long-term friend Leah Wilson.

– Brothers Stephen and Bernard Curry, both accomplished film and television stars, join forces. Stephen is known for roles in The Castle and The King, while Bernard has appeared in Home and Away, Neighbours, and Wentworth. The siblings claim they haven’t argued since 1984, though the race may test that record.

Drama and Competition

As the teams tackle Pit Stops, Roadblocks, and Detours across the globe, they’ll face numerous challenges in their quest for the charity prize. This season introduces a new element called the Face Off, where two teams must compete directly against each other in a task.

The season premiered on September 8, 2025, with the celebrities currently racing through various locations, possibly even searching under yaks for clue cards in the Himalayas while viewers enjoy the adventure from their couches.
