The Journey Through Injury

The 76-year-old rock icon has been facing significant vocal challenges after fracturing his larynx in 2023, an injury that ultimately led to Aerosmith’s retirement from touring.

Medical professionals have confirmed that beyond the damage to his vocal cords, Tyler’s larynx fracture requires ongoing care. His doctors emphasize that patience is essential in the recovery process, and he is currently receiving the best available medical treatment.

The End of an Era

The band’s journey began in 1970 when ‘a spark of inspiration became Aerosmith,’ and thanks to their devoted fans, known as the Blue Army, that spark ignited into a flame that burned bright for over five decades.

According to experts, including former Guns N’ Roses drummer Matt Sorum, Tyler’s situation is particularly challenging given his age of 77 and his perfectionist nature – he refuses to compromise on the quality of his performances or resort to pre-recording his voice like some other artists.

Looking to the Future

While Tyler’s voice is reportedly healing well, according to Aerosmith bassist Tom Hamilton, the band isn’t planning to return to touring. Hamilton suggests that while Aerosmith might do something in the future, it would have to come from Tyler himself, and any decisions would be based on his recovery and wishes.
