Roger Waters to Release ‘This Is Not a Drill – Live From Prague’ as Political Controversies Continue

New Release and Recent Developments
Roger Waters has announced ‘This Is Not a Drill – Live From Prague,’ a live album and film scheduled for release in mid-2025. The project will premiere in cinemas worldwide on July 23 and 27, with CD, LP, and home video releases following on August 1.
Additionally, fans can look forward to The Dark Side Of The Moon Redux Super Deluxe Boxset, available from March 14th, 2025, featuring special live versions recorded during Waters’ performances at The London Palladium in October 2023.
Political Stance and Controversy
Waters has recently sparked controversy with his political statements, particularly regarding the Ukraine conflict. In February 2023, he made contentious remarks about Ukraine, leading to criticism from his former Pink Floyd bandmate David Gilmour and Gilmour’s wife Polly Samson, who labeled Waters a “Putin apologist.”
During a speech at the United Nations Security Council, Waters condemned the invasion of Ukraine as illegal while maintaining it was “not unprovoked.” His statements received praise from Russia’s deputy UN ambassador but were denounced by Ukraine’s UN ambassador as “another brick in the wall” of Russian propaganda.
Legacy and Recent Tours
Waters’ most recent tour, ‘This Is Not a Drill,’ was his seventh concert tour as a solo artist. The tour began in Pittsburgh on July 6, 2022, and concluded in Quito, Ecuador, on December 9, 2023. Notably, Waters had referred to this as his “first farewell tour.”
Throughout his career, Waters has achieved numerous milestones, including staging one of the largest rock concerts in history with The Wall – Live in Berlin, which drew an attendance of 450,000. His contributions to music have been recognized with induction into both the US Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the UK Music Hall of Fame. His last appearance with Pink Floyd was at the Live 8 global awareness event in 2005.
Looking Ahead
While future tour plans remain uncertain, Waters has invested significant resources in the Redux Dark Side of the Moon London Palladium Shows. Though only two performances were held, there’s speculation about potential additional shows. Additionally, Waters is currently finalizing his memoirs, which will be available in both written and audio formats.
