Background and Expertise

Born in Bogor on 7 July 1964, Sadewa holds an impressive academic background, combining engineering and economics. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) before obtaining both a Master’s and Ph.D. in Economics from Purdue University in the United States.

Known as a senior economist with extensive experience in both government and financial markets, Sadewa is no newcomer to national economic policy-making. His career includes significant positions at Danareksa, where he served as a senior economist, Chief Economist at the Danareksa Research Institute, and eventually became President Director of Danareksa Securities.

Prior to his current appointment, Sadewa led the Indonesia Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS), where he was responsible for maintaining banking system stability through public deposit insurance and bank resolution.

In his new role, Sadewa acknowledges the challenges ahead, citing global technological and geopolitical challenges. He has set ambitious targets, suggesting growth of 6% to 7% in the short term, with potential for reaching 8% through increased government and private sector participation in the economy.
