Only Murders in the Building Season 5: Murder Mystery Goes Mob-Style with Star-Studded Cast

A New Chapter Begins at the Arconia

Since its 2021 debut, Only Murders in the Building has become a cultural juggernaut, breaking records as the most-watched comedy premiere in Hulu history and later becoming the most-watched comedy ever on Hulu.

The highly anticipated fifth season will premiere on September 9, 2025, with the first three episodes available at launch, followed by weekly episodes every Tuesday.

The Mystery Deepens

Season five centers around the murder of the Arconia’s longtime doorman Lester, whose body was discovered in the courtyard fountain during the season four finale. Charles, Oliver, and Mabel refuse to believe it was an accident, launching them into a new investigation that stretches beyond the Arconia’s walls.

According to showrunner John Hoffman, the season will explore “the balance of power in New York and who has that power… the old mob and the new mob mixing in… with our trio in the center of it.” This combination of citywide intrigue, colorful new characters, and mafia-inspired tension gives the show a sharper edge while keeping the Arconia at its heart.

Star-Studded Cast Returns and Expands

Returning cast members include Michael Cyril Creighton as Howard, Jackie Hoffman as Uma, and Da’Vine Joy Randolph as Detective Donna Williams. Meryl Streep will return as Loretta, Richard Kind will reprise his role as Vince Fish, and Nathan Lane’s Teddy Dimas will be back as well.

The new season welcomes an impressive lineup of newcomers including Keegan Michael Key, Renée Zellweger, Christoph Waltz, Logan Lerman, Jermaine Fowler, Beanie Feldstein, Bobby Cannavale and Dianne West.
