Garry Lyon has taken on a new role as permanent co-host of AFL 360 alongside Gerard Whateley, with the show airing on Fox Footy at 7:30 pm Mondays to Wednesdays during the AFL season.

The appointment comes as part of Fox Footy’s expansion of its commentary team for 2025, which has seen significant changes including the addition of Geelong champion Tom Hawkins and former West Coast coach Adam Simpson to their media roles.

Lyon’s move to AFL 360 follows the departure of Mark Robinson, who will not be continuing with the program beyond 2024. The transition presents a significant challenge for Lyon, who already maintains a busy schedule with Fox’s On the Couch program on Monday nights, alongside his existing commitments with SEN.

Program Innovation and Expert Analysis

The revamped AFL 360 features several specialized segments, including ‘Razor’s Edge’ with retired umpire Ray Chamberlain reviewing umpiring decisions, tribunal night coverage with David Zita, regular appearances by Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin, and a coaching insight segment with Adam Simpson and John Longmire. Lyon and Whateley also provide their weekend picks and analysis.

The program maintains its consistent Monday to Wednesday 7.30pm schedule throughout the regular season, with special editions planned for grand final week, including shows before and after the season’s pinnacle event. Lyon joins an impressive lineup of talent at Fox Footy, working alongside respected figures such as Jonathan Brown, Nathan Buckley, and Jordan Lewis in the network’s comprehensive AFL coverage.
