From Business School Graduate to ‘Ketamine Queen’: Jasveen Sangha’s Role in Matthew Perry’s Death

A Shocking Fall from Grace

Growing up in the affluent Los Angeles suburb of Calabasas, Jasveen Sangha seemed destined for success. Described by friends as “meticulous and studious” in high school, she pursued higher education, attending the University of California, Irvine before earning her MBA in England.

In a dramatic turn of events, on August 18, 2025, Sangha agreed to plead guilty to five federal charges, including distribution of ketamine resulting in death. This plea deal marks the end of investigations into Matthew Perry’s 2023 overdose, with Sangha being the last of five defendants to resolve her case. She now faces up to 45 years in prison.

The Criminal Enterprise

Operating from her North Hollywood home, Sangha ran what investigators described as a “drug emporium,” selling ketamine and other substances to high-end clientele. Her stash house contained methamphetamine, cocaine, pressed pills, fake Xanax, scales, drug packaging materials, and a money-counting machine.

The fatal connection to Perry emerged when Sangha reportedly received a text from former Hollywood director Erik Fleming about supplying ketamine for the actor. Perry’s personal assistant subsequently paid thousands of dollars for multiple vials just days before the actor’s death.

A Pattern of Tragedy

Court documents reveal this wasn’t the first tragedy linked to Sangha’s operations. In August 2019, she sold ketamine to a man named Cody McLaury, who died of an overdose. After receiving a text message from McLaury’s family member stating her ketamine had killed him, Sangha searched online to verify if ketamine could be listed as a cause of death.

The Future

With Sangha’s plea deal, the scheduled September 2025 trial will not proceed. All other suspects in the case – including physician Mark Chavez, Dr. Salvador Plasencia, dealer Erik Fleming, and Perry’s live-in personal assistant Kenneth Iwamasa – have also entered plea deals.

Sangha’s influence, though negative, has sparked important conversations about celebrity deaths and drug accountability. Her case draws parallels to others, like those involving Michael Jackson’s doctors, emphasizing the role of suppliers in such tragedies. In the community, she represents the hidden facilitators behind fame’s toll, prompting crucial reflections on prevention.
