Former Home and Away Actor Orpheus Pledger Returns to Jail After Violating Court Orders

Latest Development in Actor’s Legal Troubles
Australian actor Orpheus Pledger has been sentenced to six months behind bars for violating court orders. This latest sentencing comes after he had previously avoided jail time for two assaults. The former Home and Away star was re-sentenced to a non-parole term of six months, minus 127 days already served, after violating conditions of his parole order.
Background of the Case
The actor was initially sentenced to seven months’ jail time and a 12-month community corrections order in Victoria in August 2024. However, he successfully appealed his sentence in November 2024, which resulted in a reduced sentence of a two-year community corrections order.
According to Judge Tinney, Pledger had taken a “casual approach” to the order and was “ducking and weaving” around drug tests. The court heard he had reduced his antipsychotic medication without consulting a doctor. When Pledger’s defence lawyer claimed the actor didn’t understand the serious nature of the order, the judge noted he had warned him about “mucking around on the order,” stating that Pledger had “frittered away his opportunity on the order and placed himself back in the dock of the court.”
Career and Background
Pledger’s acting career began at age 9 in commercials and on children’s series Silversun before landing a role on Neighbours in 2011. He later took the role of Mason Morgan in Home and Away from 2016 to 2019 and most recently appeared as a contestant on SAS Australia in 2022.
Mental Health and Legal Concerns
His manager, Craig McMahon, expressed shock at the assault allegations and revealed that Pledger had been suffering from “long-term mental health issues.” McMahon suggested that Pledger had been “completely let down by the system,” highlighting broader concerns about mental health support.
The court was informed that Pledger’s downward spiral began when he narrowly missed out on making it big in Hollywood, which affected his mental health and led to drug use.
