Ferrari Resurrects Legendary Testarossa Name with Revolutionary 849 Hybrid Supercar

A New Era for an Iconic Name
Ferrari has unveiled its latest masterpiece, the new 849 Testarossa sportscar, marking a significant tribute to the famous original Testarossa model of the 1980s.
The prestigious Italian automaker revealed this new plug-in hybrid, four-wheel drive vehicle in Milan, positioning it as the replacement for the 2019 SF90 Stradale at the top of its range.
Revolutionary Performance and Technology
At the heart of this beast lies a mid-rear mounted, 4-liter, eight-cylinder turbo engine, delivering 830 horsepower. When combined with three electric motors, the total output reaches an impressive 1,050 HP – 50 more than its predecessor. The vehicle achieves a remarkable top speed exceeding 330 kilometres (205 miles) per hour.
In an era of increasing environmental consciousness, the 849 Testarossa demonstrates Ferrari’s commitment to sustainable performance, capable of running in EV mode for up to 16 miles at speeds up to 81 mph, powered by a 6.5-kWh battery pack.
Design and Innovation
The 849 Testarossa was developed by the Ferrari Styling Centre, under the direction of Flavio Manzoni, revolutionising the shape of the SF90 Stradale. The vehicle takes its position at the top of Ferrari’s range, promising exceptional performance while maintaining ride comfort and interior refinement, wrapped in a futuristic yet historically rooted design.
The interior showcases a wraparound cockpit with a flying-bridge center console and convenient storage underneath. The gear selector is positioned on a raised platform attached to the upper part of the console. Rather than a central touchscreen, the infotainment system is integrated into the driver’s display, complemented by a separate passenger screen.
Market Launch and Availability
The 849 Testarossa will be available in two variants, with the coupe starting at 460,000 euros ($540,000) and the spider version at 500,000 euros. Initial deliveries to U.S. clients are scheduled to begin three months after the European launch, with pricing adjusted to account for import tariffs.
This launch is particularly significant as Ferrari, under CEO Benedetto Vigna’s leadership, prepares to showcase its first electric vehicle next month. However, the company has confirmed it will continue producing both petrol and hybrid cars alongside its upcoming EVs.
