Sweden’s newly appointed Health Minister, Elisabet Lann, made headlines on Tuesday when she collapsed during a press conference marking the start of the new parliamentary year 2025-2026. The incident occurred shortly after her appointment to replace her predecessor, Acko Ankarberg Johansson, who had suddenly resigned the day before.

The dramatic scene, captured on camera, showed Lann standing beside Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson. The incident unfolded suddenly when she leaned forward, slumped over the lectern, and fell to the floor. The other politicians onstage, including PM Kristersson, as well as members of the press, quickly moved to assist the fallen minister.

Party leader Ebba Busch and other officials present immediately stepped in to help the minister, who received proper attention from security personnel before being led out of the room. Lann returned to the event room shortly after. She explained that her episode was due to a “blood sugar drop.”
