Venezuela has recently deployed 15,000 troops to its border with Colombia, specifically in the Zulia and Tachira states, with the stated aim of combating drug trafficking. Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello announced this deployment, claiming they had seized 53 tons of drugs this year.

The situation has escalated further with Venezuela’s deployment of warships and drones to patrol its coastline, a direct response to the United States sending three destroyers to the region. Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino announced a ‘significant’ drone deployment and naval patrols along the Caribbean coast, including larger vessels in territorial waters.
