A Historic Night for Music

The 2025 MTV Video Music Awards is taking place at the UBS Arena in Elmont, New York, on September 7, 2025, making history as it broadcasts for the first time on CBS while being simulcast on MTV and streaming on Paramount+.

Star-Studded Lineup and Notable Achievements

Leading the pack this year is Lady Gaga with an impressive 12 nominations, including nods for video of the year, artist of the year, and best album. Following closely behind are Bruno Mars with 11 nominations and Kendrick Lamar with 10.

The night’s most prestigious honor, the Video Vanguard Award, will go to Mariah Carey, who will grace the VMAs stage for the first time in 20 years. This marks Carey’s first-ever VMA award in her 35-year career, despite her legacy of iconic music videos for songs like “Honey,” “Always Be My Baby,” and “Obsessed”.

Special Performances and Tributes

The event features an impressive lineup of performers including Mariah Carey, Doja Cat, Tate McRae, Post Malone, Conan Gray, Sabrina Carpenter, Ricky Martin, Jelly Roll, J Balvin featuring DJ Snake, Busta Rhymes, Alex Warren and sombr.

In a touching tribute, Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler and Joe Perry, along with YUNGBLUD and Nuno Bettencourt, will perform a special tribute to heavy metal legend Ozzy Osbourne, who passed away in July.

Groundbreaking Awards and Honors

The ceremony will feature two historic presentations: Busta Rhymes will receive the first-ever MTV VMA Rock the Bells Visionary Award, celebrating his cultural impact throughout his decades-long career, while Ricky Martin will accept the Latin Icon Award, coinciding with the 26th anniversary of his first VMAs performance.
