Next Generation of Apple Watches Coming This September

Apple is preparing to unveil three new smartwatch models – the Apple Watch Series 11, Apple Watch Ultra 3, and Apple Watch SE (3rd-gen) at its ‘Awe Dropping’ event on September 9, 2025.

Enhanced Features and Capabilities

The new lineup is expected to feature upgraded processors, 5G connectivity for select models, new health features, and integration with Apple Intelligence. One notable addition is Live Translation in Messages, which will allow incoming texts to be automatically translated into the user’s preferred language right on their wrist. This feature will be available on the latest models when paired with an Apple Intelligence-supported iPhone.

Health Monitoring Advances

Apple has been developing blood pressure monitoring technology that could debut in the 2025 models. Rather than providing specific systolic and diastolic readings, the feature will track blood pressure trends and alert users if hypertension is detected. This information can then be shared with healthcare professionals for further investigation – a potentially life-saving feature as hypertension often goes unnoticed until it causes serious damage.

Technical Improvements

The Apple Watch Ultra 3 will introduce 5G RedCap chips from MediaTek, enabling 5G connectivity for the first time in an Apple Watch, upgrading from the current LTE capability. Additionally, satellite connectivity is expected to be included, allowing users to communicate from the watch without a phone in emergency situations, even without a data plan.

Pricing and Availability

Apple is maintaining its current pricing structure, with the Apple Watch Series 11 starting at $399, the Apple Watch Ultra 3 at $799, and the third-gen Apple Watch SE at $249. Following the September 9 announcement, preorders are expected to begin immediately, with devices shipping to customers by September 19, 2025.

Looking Ahead

Apple continues to innovate in the health monitoring space, with ongoing development of noninvasive blood glucose monitoring technology. While this feature is still a few years away, the company has already achieved a significant milestone by creating a viable proof-of-concept model that needs to be miniaturized for wearable use.
