AJ Lee’s Historic WWE Return: Former Divas Champion Back After 10 Years for Dream Mixed Tag Match

Breaking News: AJ Lee Returns to WWE

Former three-time Divas Champion AJ Lee has made her shocking return to WWE on the September 5th episode of Friday Night SmackDown, marking her first appearance in over a decade.

The Road to Return

Speculation about AJ Lee’s return has been building since her husband CM Punk’s dramatic WWE comeback at Survivor Series in November 2023. According to recent reports, there has been ‘more traction’ on her return lately than in previous years, with discussions intensifying following the WWE Clash in Paris event.

Upcoming Dream Match

The stage is now set for a blockbuster mixed tag team match that will feature two of wrestling’s most famous real-life couples. AJ Lee will team with her husband CM Punk to face the duo of Becky Lynch and World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins at Wrestlepalooza, which will make history as the first WWE main roster premium live event to air on the new ESPN streaming platform.

Legacy and Impact

AJ Lee’s return to the ring marks a historic moment in professional wrestling. Her last match took place on Raw after WrestleMania 31 in March 2015, when she was forced to retire at age 28 due to permanent damage to her cervical spine. Her enduring influence is evident in the fact that despite being away for over a decade, she remains highly sought after and respected for her contributions to women’s wrestling.

Wrestlepalooza Details

Wrestlepalooza is scheduled to air live through ESPN on Saturday, September 20 at 7:00 pm Eastern. The event gains additional significance as it will compete with AEW’s All Out pay-per-view from the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Canada on the same night.
